History & Purpose
The Van Buren County Conservation Board was authorized by the people of Van Buren County at the primary election of 1966:
- To acquire, develop, maintain and make available to the inhabitants of the county, public museums, parks, preserves, parkways, playgrounds, recreation centers, county forests, wildlife and other conservation areas.
- To promote and preserve the health and general welfare of the people & resources
- To cultivate good citizenship by providing adequate programs of public recreation.
Since its inception, the VBCCB has acquired, developed and maintained 13 areas
comprising of over 500 acres of land for the public's benefit and enjoyment.
